RI Provided emergency assistance to Displaced Rohingya

JAKARTA- Not long ago some 50 residents of Rakhine, Myanmar returned found stranded in Lhoksumawe, North Aceh. Before they got to limbo at at sea due to their boat ran out of fuel there.

"The Government has done a standard procedure including giving emergency aid to ensure their safety," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Michael Tene in Jakarta, Friday (3/1/2012).

When the Government attitude related deletions in addressing the incident, saying his side would still have to Tene verify whether citizens of ethnic Rohingya refugee categories is included in a political or economic refugees.

"If they fall into the category of politics then it will become the authority of UNHCR. However if they pertained to economic refugees in then we will submit it to the IOM, "said Tene.

Terdamparnya Rakhine nationals is not the first time that happened in the region of Indonesia. Since year 2009 already at least four times the human origin of Myanmar's boat stranded in Aceh.

During this time the citizens of ethnic Rohingya known insecure lives in Myanmar due to conflicts with the military junta. Conditions that cause they decided to flee by boat to the sober.
