TOKYO -a magnitude 6.8 on the Richter scale Earthquake (SR) struck Japan today. Tsunami a magnitude estimated also accompanies minor earthquake.
Japan Meteorological Agency ensures that the power of the quake reached 6.8 SR. the Agency also predicted the tsunami as high as roughly half a meter will touch the island Hokkaido and Eastern Pacific coast. So reported the Associated Press, Wednesday (16/3/2012).
The epicenter was reported to be approximately 235 kilometers south of Kushiro on Hokkaido Island. While the center of the earthquake is estimated at depth not too deep, reaching 26 kilometers under the sea.
The earthquake was not felt until this time Tokyo, which jarakanya reached 730 kilometers from the epicenter. Earthquake shocks could create panic residents in Iwate and Aomori Prefecture.
Iwate Prefecture is one of the areas hit by the earthquake which accompanied the tsunami strikes last year. While the Pacific tsunami warning center in Hawaii make sure no serious threat in the Pacific region.(faj)
