100 Passengers Still trapped in the ferry PNG

PORT MORESBY -more than 100 passengers feared trapped in the ferry that sank in the waters of Papua New Guinea (PNG) Wednesday February 2, yesterday. Previously ascertained, already a known surviving passenger 246.

Around 350 people known to be on the boat nahas as sunk. It is not clear what the cause of the sinking of the ship. But PNG Prime Minister Peter O'Neill acknowledged that safety factor ignored in this accident.

Marine Safety Authority (AMSA) said Australia, the ship MV Queen of Rabaul sunk around nine nautical miles from the coast. The ship was sunk while en route from Kimbe towards Lae.

"From the reports indicated there were five ships rescue 246 passengers discovered around survivors," statement of the AMSA was quoted as saying The Independent, Friday (3/2/2012).

"PNG Officials currently processing passengers survived in Lae," imbuh the AMSA.

Three barges waiting at the location during the search process took place, but the wind conditions and high waves further complicate the process of rescue.

A rescue squad said, PNG Rony Naigu around 100 passengers were on board when the ferry sank. Boat nahas was crashing three waves of high and finally sank quickly.
