RAMALLAH -Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal will meet this month to hold a reconciliation dialogue in Cairo, Egypt.
"The meeting between President Abbas and Khaled Meshaal on the Cairo meeting was already agreed upon and will soon take place," said Azzam al Ahmad, Fatah officials, such as AFP, was quoted Friday (11/11/2011).
Azzam said the meeting would discuss the issue of Palestinian Unity, and the future of Palestine and the future of the Palestine Liberation Organization (Fatah).
Fatah had already signed a reconciliation with Hamas on last May to form a national independent in Palestine. An independent Government that will hold the elections in Palestine. However, the agreement was never implemented.
Abbas will soon accelerate elections in Palestine, but he insists, will not participate in the elections.
More recently, the faction of Hamas in the Gaza Strip appeared to be closer to Fatah, the Palestinian prisoners and especially pascapertukaran Israel troops. Khaled Meshaal also appeared to have started accepting attitude towards Abbas. Meshaal also had urged Abbas to hold intra-Palestinian dialog to form a joint Government.
Membership Palestinian Bodies of the United Nations Educational, scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) also appear to be greeted by Hamas. This attitude is rare because of the stance of Hamas earlier do not support the efforts of Abbot who went to New York to ask for recognition at the UN.
