US Pleased When Georgia NATO Entry

WASHINGTON – in addition to supporting Georgia who want membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the United States (u.s.) are also committed to improving military capabilities at Georgia.

On Wednesday February 1, yesterday, the President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili met with U.s. President Barack Obama at the White House to discuss defense cooperation.

"We are very pleased to be able to develop our defense cooperation with more depth. U.S. commitment to improving military capabilities will be the Georgia message is good for Georgia, "said Saakashvili, as quoted UPI, Thursday (2/2/2012).

Saakashvili also said, Obama is very supportive of Georgia to gain membership in NATO. According to Obama, Georgia is one of the countries which have contributed troops in Afghanistan in the delivery as a non-member of NATO.

However, the arrival of Georgia into NATO seems to be not approved by some citizens of Georgia. In 2011, it appears Silver Revolution in Georgia by the citizens of the Soviet Union sympathizers. They were protesting the high cost of living in the country who had fought against Russia.

Some demonstrators even say, Georgia State is far better when it was under the rule of the Soviet Union. Georgia's opposition parties also often point out the gag order against his Government did citizens.

Georgia's entry into NATO also will only make Russia angry. Russia had denounced the visit of U.s. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to visit a number of NATO countries in 2011. Censure it appeared with increasing tension between Russia and the US missile defense system related issues.

Russia does not approve of NATO'S expansion and the expansion of its membership would attack Georgia threatened again when Georgia joined the NATO.(AUL)
