Gay Activists Challenge Malaysia Government

KUALA LUMPUR -gay Activist Malaysia launched a campaign to challenge the Government of Malaysia that give the prohibition on homosexual-festival of the arts.

The activists also had complaint against discrimination of homosexuals in Malaysia, at the same time human rights activist also urged the Government of Malaysia to abolish laws that criminalize any gays. So as reported Associated Press, Tuesday (10/1/2012).

Coordinator of festival "Sexual Freedom" in Malaysia also filed their petition in the High Court that the prohibition on her Festival Malaysia revoked by the Government of Malaysia.

Sexual Freedom Festival is an annual event held in Kuala Lumpur since 2008, however the Government appeared to throw all his criticism of Malaysia's response to this event. Government of Malaysia has also set strict censorship and prohibition on the circulation of songs and movies that supports gays.

Gay citizens in Malaysia are classified into minorities. They also often gets a slur and other critics. In August, a local gay Malaysia, Ouyang finally decided to make her marriage in New York, United States (US) because he could not have been able to get married in Kuala Lumpur.

In addition to gays, transsexual people also often discriminated against by the citizens of Malaysia. Violence committed against the transsexual even been propagated from the physical, mental, and sexual. Just as gays, the transsexual is also very rich in Malaysia.(AUL)
