RI Is Ready To Contribute To The Myanmar Elections

-JAKARTA If the process of political and democratic transformation runs smoothly, then Burma will make certain the electoral process (the elections) on April 1, 2012.

Indonesia who served as Chairman of ASEAN 2011 constantly strives to provide a positive contribution to the development of democracy in Myanmar, including contributing to help the implementation of the general elections in Myanmar.

"Elections are not held by the State of Myanmar, but the Electoral Commission. So if you want to provide Government assistance through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia will facilitate the Commission of elections of Myanmar to cooperate with the ELECTION COMMISSION said the Foreign Minister in Indonesia, "Natalegawa after the annual speech at the Foreign Ministry Jakarta, Saturday (4/1/2012).

In his visit to Myanmar some time ago, and Foreign Minister of Myanmar Foreign Minister Natalegawa U Wunna Maung Lwin, has scrambled to increase cooperation talks linked the two countries as well as bilateral issues of the region and the global common good.

Myanmar democracy leaders Aung San Suu Kyi is believed to have participated in the upcoming elections. Before the Party national Democratic League (LDN), headed by Suu Kyi's Party has been registered as participants of the election.

In the upcoming elections around 48 seats in the Parliament of Myanmar will be contested. 40 seats in the lower House, six seats in the upper House, and two seats in the regional Parliament.

Suu Kyi will be vying for positions in the House of representatives representing the territory of Kawhmu, which was his residence.(rhs)
