ABUJA- Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan announced Nigeria in an emergency, especially the northern and central Nigeria.
The announcement was issued following the onset of bombing accused militant group Boko Haram engage in Christmas celebrations. The bombing led to 39 people were killed.
Also involved in the bombing, Boko Haram also accused militants are behind the clashes that took place last Saturday. The clashes triggered land disputes related this developed into violent inter-ethnic bargaining involving groups of Ezza and Ezilo Groups. Around 50 people allegedly killed in the clashes.
"For a long term solution has not been found, the Government will take some decisive action is needed to make the situation back to normal, especially communities affected," said President Jonathan was quoted as saying AlJazeera, Week, (01/01/2012).
More President Jonathan said, he would have ordered the closure of the border-the border located in the northern and southern Nigeria.
"The closure of the border is only an interim step to address the security turmoil happening right now," he added.
In his visit to the site of the bombing in the Catholic Church of St. Theresa, Madalla, last Saturday, President Jonathan has vowed he will destroy the Boko Haram which ditudingnya as a terrorist group.
Boko Haram comes across as the most dangerous militants in Nigeria, was rarely followed up killing dozens of casualties in the country. A militant group that also had a chance to do the bombing at the offices of the United Nations (UN) in the city of Abuja and killing 24 people. (kha)
