Iran-Syria Deal Documents Leaked

TEHRAN- A document belonging to the Office of the President of Syria who leaked the mention, Iran has helped Syria in the face of international sanctions.

Previous United States (USA), Turkey, the European Union, the Arab League as well as other countries have imposed sanctions of Syria because of the regime of President Bashar al-Assad against civilians. As part of sanctions, all members of the Arab League has cut ties with the Central Bank of Syria.

The countries of the Arab League have also been stopping passenger services from their countries to Syria. Not to miss, the European Union has also issued sanctions by imposing an oil embargo against Syria.

The leaked document shows, Iran has provided financial assistance to Syria more than USD1 billion or Rp8,9 billion (Usd 8.985), the funds will be used to help cope with an oil embargo against Syria including flight restrictions and sanctions against the central bank. Thus preached Sunday, Haaretz (12/2/2012).

According to that document, on December 8th, 2011, President Assad sent a delegation of senior figures in his Government and to conduct a special meeting with the delegation of Iran to visit Syria.

The delegation of Iran consists of 10 senior members of the Office of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and representatives from the Central Bank of Iran and the other part comes from the various Ministry of Iran. Delegation that met with Syria's Prime Minister Adel Safar, head of the central bank of Syria, and the Ministers of finance, trade and oil.

At the meeting the delegation of Iran announced, Iran allocates funds to help Syria through trade transactions to the needs of everyday staples. This is done to encourage the rise of the economy of Syria.

As a result of the crisis that took place in Syria, Syria regime under President Assad is indeed central experienced an economic crisis. Syria need funds to pay for the armed forces in charge of defending against the rebels.

Moreover Syria also need funds to pay tens of thousands of government officials, in order to maintain their loyalty to President Assad.

In return for helping it, Iran will supply spare parts for the oil industry are hard to come by because Syria sanctions meted out.

The document also pointed out, the two countries discussed the related ways to cope with sanctions against airlines and air freight to Syria. One solution discussed was the creation of a new route from Iran to Syria and as contrast by using airline Iran.

Iran also proposed the establishment of air and the formation of an underground tunnel to supply goods needs from Iran, or vice versa. This will be done through Iraq, said the document.

Associated with the banking sanctions, the two countries discussed the possibility of establishing a bank associated with in order to transfer money through Russia and China. Russia and China as known during this time known as supporters of Iran and Syria, two countries had vetoed a resolution of the SECURITY COUNCIL regarding the crisis of Syria.

While other documents leaked mentions, on December 14, 2011, Iran and Syria agreed to use banks in Russia and China to ease the transfer of funds between the two countries, given its current state a difficult moment for the two countries.

However, there has been no confirmation from officials of Iran and Syria regarding the leaking of this document.(rhs)
