JAKARTA -Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Marty Natalegawa said, as the times and also developments in Asean. Asean must become a community-based organizations or people centered.
"Asean should become a community-based organizations. Asean is the Association since it used to be, but this time Asean will develop into a community. Therefore, a sense of community ownership of Asean should be there, "said Marty in the 14th birthday celebration at the Hotel Kempinski, Jakarta (8/1/2012).
Marty explains, the need for a number of activities which involve the public in the Member countries of Asean to pass along to the establishment of the Asean community. For Marty, the establishment of the Asean community can not only with the signing of a treaty, and the meeting between high officials.
Former Permanent Representative of INDONESIA to the United Nations it seems social networking development highlights the ease of interaction and communication to the public of the Member States of Asean. Social networking will also help the success of a number of Asean activities.
On the 30th anniversary of the 14th Asean Foundation, Marty was reminded that the Asean Foundation would be very instrumental to make Asean a community-based organizations and the growing Asean identity among the public.
Asean Foundation was established in 1997 at the Asean Summit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Institute was also often referred to as the institution that will bring Asean into the Asean community.(faj)
