JUBA- Hundreds of armed ethnic Murle in southern Sudan attacked and torched three villages populated by ethnic Lou Nuer. This adds to a long line of interreligious conflicts that took place in southern Sudan.
On last Wednesday, some 400 people from the Murle attacked ethnic ethnicity Lou Nuer. 57 people were reported killed and 40 others were declared missing. At least there are 25 women and 35 children were declared killed in such attacks.
"They have committed massacres against these people," said one official Simon Hoth was quoted as saying Associated Press, , Friday (13/1/2012).
Perpetrators of the attack which comes from Murle ethnic earlier reported 22 people killed in similar attacks in Akobo area last weekend. Meanwhile, six hundred people estimated Uror died, when the attack occurred on a larger last August.
An official ethnic Murle says, approximately three thousand ethnic Murle were killed in the attack carried out by Nuer in Pibor Loe area since 23 December.
Government of southern Sudan has recently announced the Jonglei as a disaster area. The UNITED NATIONS Mission in the Sudan which run says at least sixty thousand people affected by the ethnic conflicts that took place in southern Sudan. The UN also admitted to a mission in southern Sudan is the most expensive humanitarian operations terumit and since the year Sudanese civil war took place in 2005.
"Citizens now living in fear Uror without the presence of security forces. UN troops are not there as well as with Government forces, "he added.
Due to the lack of health facilities in citizens injured Uror, had to be evacuated to neighbouring countries. Meanwhile the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said it would disburse aid in the form of daily needs for seven thousand five hundred people affected Sudanese citizens of ethnic disputes.
