US ready to Provide Assistance to the Philippines

WASHINGTON -United States Secretary of State (Foreign Minister in the u.s.) Hillary Clinton conveyed his condolences to the victims who were killed by a hurricane in the Philippines. Clinton also said, the US is ready to help the Philippines.

"On behalf of President Barack Obama and the people of the US, I say my condolences to the victims who were killed by Typhoon Washi, the U.s. Government is ready to help the Philippine Government to respond to this tragedy." said Clinton, as AFP, was quoted Sunday (6/12/2011).

Approximately 436 people were reported killed in natural disasters and 200 people were missing. Typhoon Washi seemed shattering 4 the southern Philippines on Saturday yesterday.

As many as 20 thousand troops have also been mobilized for the rescue of the victims of natural disasters. Philippine President Benigno Aquino also plans to visit the disaster site that occurs in the city of Cagayan de Oro, on the island of Mindanao.

Typhoon Washi attacked the city of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan on Friday causing rain storm yesterday and. Some airlines also had to be postponed, due to the emergence of a hurricane.

According to the Philippine Government, around 100 thousand citizens currently living in exile because their homes had been destroyed. This disaster also became the worst disaster in Philippine history.(rhs)
