Cruel, Myanmar Accused Defend Themselves

NAYPYIDAW -Human Rights Commission of the newly formed Myanmar rejected allegations of Amnesty International calling, political prisoners in Myanmar's prisons have hunger and torture.

Amnesty International also heaped accusations there are 15 inmates to Insein Prison a person is not given water to drink, as a punishment for their protest in last October.

In addition they also accused there are eight prisoners were placed in the cell without ventilation. It was said that these cells are designed specifically for dogs.

In his visit to Insein Prison, Komnas HAM Myanmar denied it by saying, the charges were not true.

"All the detainees interviewed said they were not short of water and get medical care is good," said the HUMAN RIGHTS Commission on Myanmar AFPwas quoted as saying, Friday (30/12/2011).

In addition it adds its cognate institutions charge of dog cells are also not correct.

"The prisoners are on a hunger strike were each placed in a cell measuring 3x6 .5 meters of clean and ventilated," he added.

Urgent Myanmar earlier internationally to release all political prisoners arrested during the military junta in power. There are an estimated 1,500 activists being detained.

The Government has already freed 200 people last October, but these are considered to be only a fraction of the activists who were detained.

To put an end to international isolation, the new Government of Myanmar has conducted numerous reformas. Including one frees opposition figure Aung San Suu Kyi.(rhs)
