CANBERRA -Minister of defence of South Korea (Rok) Kim Kwan-jin and Defense Minister Stephen Smith agreed Australia deepen cooperation between the two countries through joint exercises.
This step is performed after the US announced last month would boost the presence of military personnel in Australia and will do more exercises together.
Kim Kwan-jin and Stephen Smith held a bilateral meeting today to discuss more about exercise. One of the same work they are doing is a joint naval exercise regularly will be implemented starting next year.
"Australia and South Korea are high strength and bilateral relations are both supported by common strategic interest," said the two Ministers in a joint statement was quoted as saying Associated Press, Wednesday (2/12/2011).
"We are the partner security services will continue to explore opportunities to deepen our defence cooperation," he added.
Australia's Prime Minister, Julia Gillard agreed to begin an annual dialogue with the Minister of defence of the two countries when he visits South Korea President Lee Myung-bak last April.
Both do a dialogue that focuses on strategic issues and share information as well as an increase in the defense industry.(faj)
