JAKARTA Government aid programs Australia (AusAID) and the national disaster relief Agency (BNPB) today announced plans to build a training center for disaster management and regional logistics Indonesia first.
Disaster management training centres and regional logistics Indonesia will be built in Padang, West Sumatra in December.
The Center was established to respond to the high risk of earthquakes and tsunamis in this region, this facility will train the maintainer responds to disaster in the region and providing emergency supplies that enable quick reaction time of a disaster.
"Indonesia is one of the countries of the world's most vulnerable to disasters and have many remote areas. More disaster management and the ability of trained disaster response more quickly will save lives, "says Dr. Matt Hayne, Deputy Director of the Australia-Indonesia Facility for Disaster Reduction (AIFDR).
"To enhance the skills, the managers require training. 3.75 million dollars worth of facilities in Australia will be established in the field and will be equipped with sophisticated training facilities, emergency storage warehouses and emergency operations center, "said Dr. Hayne in the description of the Embassy's press OkezoneAustralia, Friday (2/10/2011).
This news was announced when the handover event storage space and Logistics Centre is funded by Australia, which was attended by the head of Maarif and Governor BNPB Syamsul West Sumatra Crixmadine Prayitno.
AIFDR which agreed a partnership worth USD67 million over five years between AusAID and BNPB, were also funded the construction of training facilities and storage that has been hand over today in the city of Padang.
This facility is a model of "best practices" and this month training logistics and simulation have been held for the staff of the logistics of the Government of the province of West Sumatra as well as disaster management institutions dijajaran district.(faj)
