Thailand Cambodia Pull Troops In & Agree

PHNOM PENH -Thailand and Cambodia said it agreed to withdraw forces from border areas that has become a region of conflict. The withdrawal of troops will be done entirely and simultaneously.

Minister of defence of the two countries agreed to the removal of troops from the region of disengketakan near an ancient temple of Preah Vihear. It is often by a bloody conflict over the past two times in the last year and killing 28 people. So reported the Straits Times, , Wednesday (21/12/2011).

The two countries also agreed to form a working group that oversaw the transfer of their military personnel and simultaneously entirely from their positions in the demilitarized zone.

The meeting took place in Phnom Penh attended by Defence Ministers of both countries as well as accompanied by military officials.  The rules of withdrawal will be carried out with the help of a team of observers to Indonesia.

Cambodia and Thailand have long had a border dispute near the Temple of Preah Vihear. The conflict heated up since the UNESCO register Preah Vihear as a World Heritage site July 7, 1008.
