Philippines to send Battleships to the South China Sea

Philippine MANILA -send the old United States-made warships (U.S.), U.S. Coast Guard Cutter which is the largest and most modern which is owned by the Philippines into the South China Sea.

Philippine President Benigno Aquino saw the departure ceremony. For Aquino, the ship that showed the existence of a process of modernization of the Philippine military in the midst of the many obstacles that appear.

"As an archipelago, it is important for the Philippines to safeguard the sovereignty of the territory. Warships and military equipment are obsolete don't we will use it again, "said Aquino, was quoted as saying Associated Press, Wednesday (2/12/2011).

The vessel's departure ceremony was also greeted by bands from the Philippine Navy, the pastor of the Roman Catholic Church also appear to be splashing holy water over the port.

Warships were equipped with anti-aircraft weapons and air updated by adding a helicopter pad. A total of three fighters also welcomed the ship and military officials also opened a wine.

The Philippine Navy also said they will deploy its new vessels into the waters of Palawan which is rich in natural gas.

More recently, the Philippines looks to strengthen themselves in the defense of maritimnya, as well as conducted by China. The two countries that claim the territory in the South China Sea, the feud has always appeared between China and the Philippines.(rhs)
