Joining Al Shabab, 2 citizens of the United Kingdom on hold

NAIROBI -a pair of United Kingdom citizens from the city of Cardiff was detained by security authorities over alleged Kenya joined the militant Al Shabab. They were arrested on the island of Lamu archipelago that is home to tours in Kenya.

"The investigation against the two suspects are currently running but we are sure they want to go to Somalia. They are currently being interrogated, and they claimed was a tourist, "said Police spokesman Ambrose Kennya Munyasia, Metrowas quoted as saying, Tuesday (6/10/2011).

Both suspects were allegedly stopped in Kenya's capital, Nairobi, on 9 October. They stay four days in Mombasa before finally went to Lamu on Saturday week.

Police from South Wales also works closely with the security authorities in Kenya to arrest the suspects, they are also already contacted United Kingdom Embassy in Nairobi.

Security authorities in Kenya had increased security in the coastal areas due to the threat of attack from militant groups.

In September, tourists from the United Kingdom Kenya also kidnapped by militants and one of the tourists were shot dead. Kenya was currently preparing to move to Somalia, to hunt down militants of the Al-Shabab. However, Al Shabab threaten behind Kenya, when Kenya attack Somalia, Kenya will suffer the same fate as well as Uganda.(rhs)
